Light Beings

 by Rev. Amari Magdalena

Why are we so attracted to Light? Why are so many of us prone to star gazing? How many of us enjoyed looking at the Milky Way as kids before city light interfered? Why do so many people prefer sunny climes to those with clouds? How many of us love to follow the moon cycles.

Light is what we are. The material of our physical suit comes from the stars. If we adjust our seeing some and can perceive auras, we then see just how luminous most of us are. In an NDE (near death experience) when we see our loved ones shining in light at the end of the tunnel, we are seeing those luminous bodies sans the flesh suit.

At this particular time on the planet with so much unrest, wars, and creeping autocratic governance, we need to be able to access our light beings for survival. We are able to do this by accessing our etheric body.

Some of you may know that we actually are a trinity of bodies: spiritual, etheric, and a material physical body. Think of the egg with its more substantive outer shell, inner viscus veil of white substance, and solid yolk.  This is much like us.

If you like to practice and have both a safe, quiet place without interruptions, and a time for 20 minutes, you could do this exercise. Find a chair like a dining or kitchen chair. For about 5 minutes or more practice standing up and sitting down repeatedly.

Next imagine that you can command your etheric body to become visible. Now direct that body to repeat the exercise you did with your physical body. From there allow yourself to journey for NO MORE THAN 20 minutes. Tempting though it may be to stay out longer, it messes with the energy of your physical body to be out for any length of time. Hopefully you have had the experience of traveling in your etheric body for this short time. It can be additive so be sure to set an alarm and come back.

In the meantime, develop some candle lighting rituals for either the moon or sun cycles and meditate on the light of the candle. Choose different types of light in your dwelling.  If possible and feasible, choose more natural light and not fluorescents.

You can hold a mirror in front of the candle and perhaps see your other incarnations. You might ask a partner or friend to hold a candle in front of them and see their evolutionary journeys on this planet.

Exercises in managing your energy are also very helpful. Simply remember you came from the stars and we will one day return bathed in Light!

“We are luminous beings. Beneath our transient physical body we are made of intelligent light.”- Frederik Lenz

"For we are continuous, indistinguishable. You can never be lost. When have you ever been apart from me? You can never depart and never return. ... It is the space where our light-bodies are allowed to mingle with the divine." – "Cosmic Christ"

Hope

By Rev. Amari Magdalena

We are in the midst of catastrophic events, politically and environmentally. Watching scenes of hazardous rescues from flooding waters and uprooted people, animals, houses, trees, and normal signs of life in devastation can be disheartening.  Observing a rise in hatred and acts against compassion and humanity are, at times, daunting.  Misery, disgust, and fear are strange bedfellows for sensitive, caring people. While change is a constant, it’s true, moments of it catapulted into our daily news and social media feeds, in graphic detail, can dim hope.

One of the definitions of hope is “a feeling of trust.”  You may wonder how does one keep trust, faith, and hope alive when so very much destruction is going on.  For me, it takes a certain mindset and the ability to see the light at the end of dark places.  While there is much evidenced around me that suggests that we as a country and civilization are doomed to failure, I have a clear vision of what may be on the other side of so much devastation.  I believe that we will emerge from the chrysalis as butterflies in the last stage of transformation.

Like Chauncy Gardener proclaimed in the movie “Being There” one has to prune the garden at the end of each growing season to allow regeneration to occur in the next productive cycle.  We are rapidly approaching the natural season of death as our leaves turn and begin to fall.  Already some trees are almost barren.  If we could take the position that there is great beauty in the barrenness and know, in our heart of hearts, that spring will come again, we may find solace.

Winter the truly fallow period will surely follow.  In that dormant time, if we are attuned deeply to the Creative Source that many choose to believe in, we can become more introspective and retrospective. Going within and quieting our fears, negative imaginings, sense of doom, we are more able to tap into that vast body of knowledge that connects us with the wisdom of all times.  I believe that like encyclopedias, Wikipedia, and online research resources, there is a vast pool of knowledge that we can access through meditation. Personally, I’ve often asked people of other times to speak to me through automatic writing. I find it valuable beyond imagination.  Some people will be channels, connecting in that way. Others will find solace and inspiration in the writings of hallowed visionaries of our time.

While we are best served by honoring our emotions of grief and sadness, it is equally important that we not stay in those states of mind too long.  Surely depression will follow if we choose not to lift up our thoughts after sufficient catharsis. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I highly recommend immersion in beauty.  See the wonder of what IS working and how much Mother Nature does provide in visions of amazing exquisiteness. This I find reignites my spirit of hope and wonder.

Finally, be of service to someone.  Often when we step away from our sorrows and seek to be of help to another, we feel a great gratitude.  Being of service and being useful fosters rising hope and renewed affirmation of goodness.  Reach out.

"Infuse your life with action.  Don't wait for it to happen.  Make it happen.  Make your own future. Make your own hope.  Make your own love.  And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen...yourself, right now, right down here on Earth."  Bradley Whitford

Summer Solstice

Re-entering The Void at Summer Solstice
by Amari Magdalena

Polarities of their nature bespeak irony.  And so it is with our seasonal celebrations.  At the “High Noon” of summer light as we extol the virtues of the maximum hours of daylight, we turn the corner into the void and begin the process of contraction.    From Winter Solstice to Summer Solstice we are in a phase of expansion, seeding and growing our hopes and dreams.  From June 21st until December 21st we begin to draw our energies within, ever so slowly to celebrate harvests and then release.

Both our sun and moon express four distinct phases, which parallel one another nicely.  While the moon completes each phase in 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, the sun’s phases are more protracted taking our calendar year to complete.  In earth-based traditions throughout the world sun and moon celebrations served as calendars or markers for the passage of time.

June 21st decrees the celebration of the North (the polar opposite of the South that we are experiencing).  Along with the summer solstice, it is also near Father’s day marking the maximum influence of the principal we know as masculine.  While our Spring and Fall Equinox represent balance, the solstices symbolize extreme.  Solstices are more “Tonal” (tonal being ordinary reality); equinox’ are “Nagual” (extraordinary with the availability of magic).  The summer solstice then is a time of excessive immersion into the material world (Tonal).

Given the extremes and the irony of our celebration of the North in summer and the South in winter, both celebrations are about light; more of it and less of it.  As we acknowledge the longest day of the year with the highest point of the sun, let us remember to take advantage of all that is revealed in the blazing light.

Summer Solstice in ancient times was a daylong celebration and observation in northern most climes was 24-hours and 12-hours in the lower latitudes.  In total light a circle was set with many burning candles lit.  A large bonfire was constructed nearby.  Singing, dancing, chanting and/or drumming began.  Vigilance was kept throughout the night until dawn, when the candles and fires were extinguished.

The summer solstice may then be a time to give oneself permission to totally immerse into the masculine principal yet acknowledging the winter solstice conception that led to this luxurious fertility.  Set your ceremonial circle with objects of light and representation of the golden, orange, red colors of the sun’s brilliance.  Acknowledge fire for its power of transformation.  Strew the altar with seasonal flowers and ripening berries.  Feast and surrender to the fire within.  Engage in fire ceremonies.  Trance dance.  Tone.  Make joyful noises with percussion and flute.  Invoke Archangel Michael or the Celtic god Lugh (pronounced Looch), god of light, warmth and inspiration.  Sing the praises of the sun in all its representations including the sunship of the Christ energies.  And slowly but surely, put out each candle in tribute to the returning darkness and the great mystery of the void.  Honor this phase of growth, trust and love and “Coming Into Being.”
